REPAIR CAFE
The next Repair Cafe will be held in Coaley Village Hall
2 - 4pm Sunday 19 April
Come and see us at our next repair cafe. Bring along your broken item(s) and our volunteer team will do their best to repair it/them, while you enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, slice of cake, biscuit, and a sociable chat with friends!
We have repaired or renovated all sorts of items over the years: Furniture, tools, Christmas decorations, clothes, bikes, toys etc! So bring anything along and we'll see what we can do.
WORK PARTIES

JANUARY 2026
Another successful Repair Cafe at a new location!
The Repair Cafe visited a new location this time - we were at Nympsfield Village Hall! The following items were repaired successfully:
- JEWELLERY
- 2 items deep cleaned with a sonic cleaner
- GENERAL REPAIRS
- a toaster mechanism repaired
- a steaming basket repaired
- a brass table lamp repaired
- TEXTILES
- a cardigan, a dungerees pocket, and a coat zip stitch-mended
- SHARPENING
- Garden loppers x2, Secateurs x5, Axe x 2, Hoe x 1, Hedge-trimmer x 1
A JVC camera was beyond our capability, but advice given on what could be done.
Another interesting and sociable session!

JANUARY 2026
Work begins on the new compost area on Coaley Rec
CUCAN has ben asked to take the lead on creating the new compost area at Coaley Recreation Ground as part of it's exciting regeneration (See https://www.coaleyrec.co.uk/home for more info about the project). A design was created last year and work began in January to clear the site and create the first compost bays. More information about the compost can be found here.
OCTOBER 2025
New mapping tool launched
A Nature Corridors map for Uley is developing, with an aim to encourage and include 'Wildlife Friendly Gardens' and gardeners. Check it out here
SEPTEMBER 2025
Another successful Repair Cafe!
The following items were repaired successfully during the September Repair Cafe held in Uley Village Hall:
- JEWELLERY
- Watch - battery replaced and working
- GENERAL REPAIRS
- Paper Shredder - jamming paper cleaned out, got working
- Secateurs - broken catch and spring repaired
. TEXTILES
- 3 Cushions - straps sewn on
- SHARPENING
- Garden shears x2, Secuteurs x5, Spade x1

JULY 2025
Sapling update
Hedge saplings planted by Uley Trees and Meadows on Uley Common in March 2025 are growing well in July.
MAY 2025
Another successful Repair Cafe!
The following items were repaired successfully during the May Repair Cafe held in
Coaley Village Hall:
- JEWELLERY & SPECTACLES
- Spectacles - 2 mended;
- Watches - 2 cleaned and got working;
- Rings - Cleaned
- GENERAL REPAIRS
- Cuckoo Clock, Wooden Desk
- Electric toys - 2 soldered and got working
- TEXTILES
- A blanket, a cushion, and a bag
- SHARPENING
- Garden shears x1, Secuteurs x3, Scissors x1 pair, Garden saws x2, Food-mixer blade x1
A food mixer and a toaster were attempted, but unsuccessfully. An Amplifier was examined and seen to need a replacement capacitor, and advice was given where to get it, for later repair.
Another interesting and satisfying session!

FEBRUARY 2024
More successful tree planting in Uley
In February 2024 we planted two more copses of mixed species tree saplings, supplied by Gloucester County Council as part of their ''Plant a million tress in Gloucestershire by 2030'' project. Fifty saplings were planted on Mill Farm and another 50 at Blacknest in Owlpen Manor. The species were Beech, Sweet Chestnut, Silver Birch, and Black Alder.
